Our Philosophy and Approach to Therapy

At Walk Your Talk Therapy Services, we don't do ordinary. We believe that if you have symptoms, that this is your body/mind telling you that something needs your attention. We are the detectives that guide you to figure out what it is that these symptoms are trying to tell you. We also recognize that what works for one person will not necessarily work for the next person, due to your unique personal blueprint and experiences.

We believe that nature heals and that movement and human connection are every bit as essential for health as food, water and air are. This is what lead us to our current model of offering evidence based therapy services with movement in the great outdoors, in the form of Walk and Talk Therapy!

What if we run into someone I know?

Just as with anything in your life, you can tell the person as much or as little as you would like. Some people simply wave and keep walking. Your therapist will discuss this with you at your first session, and will follow your lead if it happens. We do our utmost to protect your privacy and confidentiality, just as we would in an office setting. We wear casual clothes, and there are no identifying factors with any of our therapists.

Do I need to be really fit to do Walk and Talk Therapy sessions?

Absolutely not. While you do need to have a basic level of health, we can start wherever you are at with your fitness level - you set the pace, and we will take your lead. Of course it is helpful to be able to carry on a conversation, so a light to moderate pace is ideal. We make sure there are places to sit along the way, just in case you've had a rough day and just want to sit and take in the view. 

How do I know who I am meeting and where?

Your therapist will call you the day before you meet to let you know exactly where to meet them, and an identifying feature to assist you in recognizing them.

Services

We provide one-to-one walk and talk therapy services in two separate, accessible and beautiful locations, as well as virtually. 

*Please note that sunrise walks are available via email request.*

Urban Forest Walk

The Urban Forest Walk happens on Tuesdays between 9:00am and 2:00pm, and is located in Saanich. This location is mainly a walking location, with a park nearby in the event that you would like to sit for a portion of the session. There are basic washroom facilities on the trail, and coffee shops and amenities just a short walk away.

Beach Walk

The Beach Walk happens on Wednesdays between 9:00am and 2:00pm and is located in Oak Bay. You can choose to walk the beach, sit on a park bench or explore the surrounding neighborhood. Washrooms are located on the premises, with coffee shops and amenities nearby.

Working from Home

This option is offered as needed - please email us at   info@walkyourtalktherapy.com for the booking link. It is intended for inclement weather, in the event of an injury or illness, or even if you are on vacation and you would still like to keep your session. It is done on a HIPPA compliant platform so that your information stays secure. You also have the option to do a phone call if preferred.
