If you're like us, sometimes you might feel "stuck" or "locked in" to what you are doing, and feel unable to move. That urgency that says, "I MUST get this or that done before I can do anything else." Then you might get up from finishing your task several hours later and think to yourself, "Where did the day go?"
Now, don't get us wrong, we don't see anything wrong with being productive, and sticking to and finishing tasks, however, it can come at the expense of your happiness and leave you feeling stressed and depleted. Well then, "what might I do about this?" you may ask.
We have a challenge for you! Next time you feel that stuck, locked in feeling:
Close your laptop (after saving your work of course) or put down your phone.
Put on some shoes, flip flops, huarache sandals, moccasins, boots and a coat, sweater, hat, sunglasses - you get the picture.
Grab your keys, and your cell phone.
Set an alarm for just 5 minutes.
Walk out the door!
Now, you might feel a bit resistant in the beginning, the trick is not to think about it, just jump up and take action! When you get outside in the daylight and fresh air, you might just find yourself resetting that alarm to walk just a few more minutes! Either way, when you return to your task, you might find that you have a fresh perspective, and feel a bit less drained and more creative.
